Dear Tom:

I have sources all my genealogy, and am very maticulas about sources.

The first source is the attacthment. The memorial card for Frank Danitz funeral.

The Danitz and Riegels used St Boniface Catholic Church, In Buffalo, Erie, New York, The St Boniface records go from 1849-1899 are on Family History Library Microfilms 928703 & 928704. They should be available in the Buffalo library. They are also online at the following url http://schwertfamily.net/ The records are in Latin they are not hard to translatre. There also maps of the area on the Schwert site.

The Danitz and Riegels used the Church 1882-1896, the Danitz had 9 children baptized there.

The Kladau Catholic Church is on fhl microfilm 0587561, and 0587562, the records are in German. The Riegels used the church about 1836-1876, the Pieletski's (Roses Mother) used it until 1895.

I have both on permanent loan

The place should read Kladau, West Prussia, Kingdom of Prussia it is(was) part of West Prussia not Pomerania which is the next province to the west

I use vital records and Catholic Church records to do genealogy, I havent written Germany or Poland for records I dont think they start untill 1875, but use the Catholic Chuch records instead which give me better sources.

I live in Southeast Ohio, but was born in Buffalo.

Hope you enjoy

Also hope I didnt confuse you more.

Paul

Hi Paul,

I love getting these kind of e-mails. Thanks for the information. I was
wondering if you had a source that you could share with me.

I'm also a little confused about the towns, in 1859, Germany didn't exist yet
it was formed in 1871. The little information I can find about Uhlkau &
Kladau seem like both are just a little south of Gdansk (Danzig)? If so
wouldn't that put them in the Province of Pomerania and not West Prussia?

I'm actually currently researching a different part of my family that was from
close to the same area. I'm trying to figure out how to get birth
certificates from Poland. Have you done this yet?

Hope to hear from you,

Tom Weichmann
