Oscar H. Erler, 70, Dies Suddenly In Adams Home Oscar Herman Erler, 70, of j 12 Burt St., Adams, retired General Electric Co. employe, died suddenly late Saturday afternoon at his home following an extended period of poor health. Bom in Quolsdorf, Germany, be served in the German Army during World War I with the rank of corporal. He served in both the infantry and aviation units and received the Iron Cross. In 1926, Mr. Erler moved to Adams and for a few years was employed in construction work by the late Leander Parrott. He began his association with the Pittsfield GE in 1929, worked three years, then was laid off because of the depression period, returned in 1933 and was employed continuously from then until his retirement in 1958. He was a mason in the distribution transformer division of the maintenance section. He is survived by his wife, the former Emma (Heideman) Kelley; one son, Erwin H. Erler of Adams, proprietor of the Renfrew Barber Shop in that town; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elwood Houghtaling of Hudson, N.Y.; and three stepsons, Charles and John Kelley of Hudson and James Kelley of Lancaster, N.Y. and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 tomorrow afternoon in the A. C. Simmons Funeral Home, Adams. The Rev. Henry G. Cooper, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Adams, will officiate.
