John's signature is in the old style German writing - "Deutsches Schrift" - "Sütterlin"

The source card for this in the Erie County Clerks office is actually incorrect and lists John Nuwer as Nuver, as the plain handwriting is hard to decipher. Reviewing the sütterlin signature reviles the true name as Nuwer. I believe these source cards were made up in the 1970's when the original records were microfilmed.
