George Weichmann Sr.

Age 83, of Delevan, died May 6, 2005, husband of the late Carolyn Ann (nee Biddle); father of Richard, Thomas (Carol), George (Alberta), James (Rowena) and Joan Weichmann, Marge (Bill) Murphy, Sandy Crabb, Bonnie Smith and the late Mary Weichmann; brother of Katherine (Bob) Kingsland, Otto (Jean) and Fritz Weichmann; also survived by 28 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at W.S. DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 358 W. Main St., Arcade where Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment will be in Yorkshire Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Delevan Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

George Weichmann Sr., veteran and longtime Yorkshire fire chief
May 11, 2005

George Weichmann Sr., of Route 16 in Delevan, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo. He was 83.

He was born in Buffalo on August 4, 1921, a son of Michael and Anna (Heil) Weichmann. He married the former Carolyn Ann Biddle on July 7, 1973 in Holland.
She passed away October 15, 2004.

Mr. Weichmann was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. He was a member of the Crystal Hose Fire Company in Yorkshire, and had served as fire chief for many years. He was also a member of the Knight Kruisers Car Club and the Buicks of America Club. He was part owner of Weichmann Brothers Junkyard in Yorkshire.

Survivors include his children: Richard Weichmann of Yorkshire, Marge (Bill) Murphy of East Concord, Sandy Crabb of Delevan, Thomas (Carol) Weichmann of Alden, Bonnie Smith of Florida, George (Alberta) Weichmann of Yorkshire, James (Rowena) Weichmann of Bliss and Joan Weichmann of Franklinville; a sister: Katherine (Bob) Kingsland of Zephyrhills, Florida; two brothers: Otto (Jean) Weichmann of Chaffee and Fritz Weichmann of Protection; twenty-eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Mary Weichmann, brothers Michael, John and Edward Weichmann and sisters, Anna Meier and Elizabeth Tidd preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at W.S. Davis Funeral Home in Arcade, with the Rev. Jack Rudolph officiating. Burial was in Yorkshire Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Delevan Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
