Hi Tom: It has been since Dec. 2004 that I have written to you or heard
from you. I was going thru my file
on my ancestor search and found that out.

Just wondered if you have found out anything on Ernestine Tarnowski Heideman
or her father and mother, etc. I really have done nothing much.

Wanted to bring you up to date on a few things. After I sent the email to you in Dec. of 2004, we had some pretty hard times. My sister, Fran's, husband, Ted, died on February 9th, 2005, and we were just getting over that, when my son, Mickey, died. He was only 49 and died suddenly of pulmonary hemorage. He leaves his wife, Kathy, and two children, Cody, now 15 and Casey, now 10, who still live on Marco Island. We were devastated, of course. Take good care of yourself - our son was never sick and it was very sudden. Must have been a blood clot. He was alone
in Albany, N. Y. at a motel when it happened. He had been visiting my brothers in North Adams, as he drove my brother, Bob's, new car up there from Florida for him. They took him to dinner in Albany and he was to fly out the next morning, early. He never arrived in Ft. Myers, Fl. and they found him near his bed at the hotel. Probably you had heard of this already from one of your relatives, but just thought I'd send it on.

Well, hope you are fine - let me know if you get this and if you have any more info on our family tree.

Thanks alot.

Evelyn

Hi Tom:

Happy Holidays!!

We had a great Thanksgiving at my daughter's house in Somerset, Ma. Stayed for 10 days
and got back to Florida before the snow. Now we are getting ready for Christmas. I always
have my son and family here on Christmas Eve, along with a lot of friends and my sister,
Fran, and husband, Ted. My son, Mickey, lives on Marco Island and has the A-OK
Transportation business with his partner, Steven, also from Ma. They have been there for
about 12-13 years already and are doing just great.

My daughter, Cindy, is arriving on Friday, just for four days, to go shopping in Naples.
She is bringing 3 friends, so we will really enjoy them.

John and Josie Kelley are not feeling very well, according to a card my brother received.
Josie will be going to New York City for some kind of operation. I haven't called her yet,
so am not sure what for. John has had heart problems. We visited them again this past
summer. It was good to see them all again...we're all getting up there in age, so we like
to visit as often as possible. It would be nice to see you. Your grandfather, Jim, was a
really great guy and we miss him. He came to Marco Island to see us a couple of times.
I still hear from Connie at Christmas.

Well, I just haven't had a lot of time to follow through on our family situation. Maybe after
the holidays I can get back to it. I'd been in touch with a lot of people regarding the name
Tarnowski, but I really haven't anything concrete yet. Let me know if you make any progress.

Nice to hear from you. Merry Christmas!

Evelyn

Hello Thomas:

I saw your messages on the internet and know that you must be Connie Kelley's
grandson and my cousin, Jim Kelley's grandson. I am the daughter of Adolf
Heideman, and Emma Heideman Kelley was my aunt. She was my father's
sister and we visited them often in Hudson, N. Y. when I was growing up - in
North Adams, Ma. In fact, this past summer we visited John and Josie Kelley,
Margaret (Peg) Kelley, Charlie Kelley, all in Hudson, N. Y. They are all my first
cousins.

I have been trying to get more information on Ernestine Tarnowski Heideman, who
was my grandmother. I also found out that my father's name was Adolf Tarnowski
when he came over to Ellis Island in 1913. I did not know this before, as my father
never told us anything. He used to say he was from Dansig (Gdansk today) and was
a "Polish-Jew". Then he would laugh and we always thought he was kidding. Now
I'm not so sure if he was. He died in 1960 and he was the best dad anyone could
have ever had. We loved him very much. I have three brothers and one sister.

Now you say he had a sister, Erna. Well, I imagine that was Aunt Emma on the
ship with him and they spelled her name wrong. She was 14 when she came over
to Ellis Island, though they have her age as 18 - the same as my father's.
Herman Heideman was with them, but there was no record of Ernestine being on
the ship. Peg Kelley has no knowledge of her mother, Emma, except that Emma's
mother's maiden name was Tarnow (she may have dropped the "ski"). So, I believe
there was no Erna Tarnowski, just Emma - and she was my father's sister.

At any rate, Ernestine Tarnowski Heideman was born December 28, 1873 in Stargard, Germany
and died May 6, 1925 in Enfield, Connecticut. She is buried in Thompsonville, Ct. There was no maiden name on her death certificate - it said "unknown" and was
filled out by Herman Heideman, apparently.
We used to visit her grave there when I was young. I have no other information on
her, except that my dad loved her very much, and didn't care much for Herman
Heideman, whom I only met once in the 50's when he came to stay with us for
the summer. I understand he married about five times and was living in California
at that time. Of course, I was not born when Ernestine Heideman died in 1925, so
I never knew her. She died of cancer and was only 52.

It's very nice to know that a relative of mine is also trying to find out more information
on Ernestine Tarnowski. I have not had too much luck yet. In fact, I'm thinking
about taking a trip to Gdansk or Stargard to see if there are any records there. My
dad was Lutheran when he lived there, but changed to Catholic for my mother.
Sometimes there are church records. I also would like to know more about Herman
Heideman. I still think he might be my real grandfather and just didn't marry Ernestine until he arrived in the States. Well, time will tell....

Again, it's nice to hear from you and I'm wondering which one of Jim's children
is your mother..... Maureen??? By the way, Connie sent me a picture at Christmas
of her great grandson, Jacob Daniel Knott, ll years old. Please answer this email
and let me know about yourself and family. Thank you.

My father was Adolf (Adolph) Tarnowski Heidemann, his
father or stepfather was Herman Heidemann, who was married
to ErnestineTarnowski (or Tarnow?), my real grandmother.
I believe they married in Germany (now Poland), she was born
in Stargard, according to death certificate. Born in 1873, died
in Connecticut in 1925. I believe she came to the States in
1911 with Herman Heidemann. He returned to Germany in
1913 and brought my father, Adolf Tarnowski, and his sister,
Erna or Emma Tarnowski, with him. Ernestine was not on that ship, so I think she stayed in the States, possibly
Germantown, N. Y. Adolf was born 10/14/1894 in Bialoblott,
Germany (now Poland), near Danzig (now Gdansk, I believe).
Any info you can give me on marriage certificates, birth certi-
ficates, etc., would be appreciated. I do not know who my
great grandparents were (on either side) and would like to know. Thank you in advance for any info....
