Arza Searl was born Sept. 8, 1802 in Whitehall, NY.
His father was Gideon Searl Jr. born Mar. 11, 1762 in
Hockanum, CT. Gideon Jr. died Sept. 26, 1830 in
Whitehall, NY. Gideon Jr. married Hannah Woodard in
1788. Hannah was born May 11, 1768 and died May 31,
1811. Gideon and Hannah had 11 children: Abraham,
Isaac, Phebe, Jacob, Samuel, Pamela, Sally, Arza,
Marilla, Cynthia, and Gideon. After Hannah died in
1811, Gideon remarried to Lucy Osgood and had 4 more
children: Daniel, Hannah, Lucy, and Emily. Nine of the
total of 15 children of Gideon Jr. moved to
Cattaraugus county, NY.
